AMSTERDAM LANDMARK CAPITAL C RAISES THE BAR FOR OFFICES AND EVENTS WITH B CORP CERTIFICATION

Capital C Amsterdam is officially B Corp Certified, marking a new milestone in the rich history of its landmark location. B Corp Certification assesses companies across areas including governance, employees, community, customers and the environment. For Capital C Amsterdam, the certification formalizes and validates an approach that goes beyond the spaces it operates. It looks at how the business creates value and takes responsibility for its wider impact.

THE VISION WAS ALWAYS BIGGER THAN THE BUILDING

From the transformation of Amsterdam’s former Diamond Exchange to shaping how we do business, B Corp certification reflects Capital C Amsterdam’s broader ambition to create long-term value. As a destination for entrepreneurship and creativity. Bringing offices, events, hospitality, art, and community together in one place. “When we took on the Diamantbeurs, we saw an opportunity to give an extraordinary building a new purpose and create something with lasting value for Amsterdam,” says Willem Sijthoff, founder of Capital C Amsterdam. “That thinking still guides Capital C today. Commercial success matters, but for us it has always gone hand in hand with investing in the building, the people who use it and the city we are part of. Becoming B Corp certified reflects that long-term approach.”

EXTENDING POSITIVE IMPACT BEYOND THE BUILDING

For Capital C Amsterdam, the B Corp certification reflects a vision that is already embedded in the business: creating future-proof places that generate value for people, businesses and communities. Becoming certified has brought focus and structure to how Capital C Amsterdam approaches its wider impact and measures progress. “Our responsibility does not stop at our front door,” says Koen Leenders, Director of Capital C Amsterdam. “As part of Amsterdam’s business ecosystem, we can connect companies, entrepreneurs and partners. This network contributes to the city around us. B Corp gives us a clear framework to stay accountable, measure our impact and keep improving as Capital C Amsterdam continues to grow.” Through partnerships with organisations including Knowledge Mile, Stagepact, Make-A-Wish, Meer dan Gewenst and Eberhardjes, Capital C Amsterdam supports initiatives that create opportunities and make a positive contribution beyond its own community.

Creativity and culture form a part of Capital C Amsterdam’s broader approach to impact. Its spaces create opportunities for a wider audience to experience and engage with art. Public terrace and artwork ‘Peel Plaza’ and a freely accessible pop-up gallery with changing exhibitions make art and creativity a part of the everyday experience and accessible beyond the people who work, meet or host events at Capital C Amsterdam.

A CERTIFICATION THAT DRIVES PROGRESS

Sustainability and responsible business play a growing role in how organizations select offices, venues and partners. “We see client expectations evolving across both sides of our business,” says Lisa Vergeer, Commercial Director at Capital C Amsterdam. “Great spaces, hospitality and flexibility are expected. Increasingly, clients also want their choices to align with their own ambitions and values. B Corp strengthens Capital C’s position in that changing market and gives us a clear framework to keep developing our office and event proposition.”

For Capital C Amsterdam, that means integrate these ambitions into how our spaces are designed and operated. At rooftop event venue The High Light, the glass dome features integrated solar cells, alongside a green roof and circular flooring made from crushed beer bottles. Across the building, waste separation, water-saving taps and energy-efficient systems, including a heat pump and thermal energy storage, help reduce its environmental impact. The same approach extends to restaurant Capital Kitchen, where day-to-day choices around sourcing, food waste and operations form part of Capital C Amsterdam’s wider sustainability ambitions. Energy, water and waste use are monitored on an ongoing basis to track performance and guide further improvements.
